Grief & Life Transitions

Life doesn’t have to end for grief to begin.

The death of a loved one. The end of a relationship. Infertility. An empty nest. A health diagnosis. Retirement. A career change. Becoming a caregiver. Letting go of a dream you once held close.

Not all grief begins with death, but every significant loss has the power to change us.

Grief can leave you feeling untethered, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. Even when life continues around you, your body and heart may still be carrying the weight of what has changed.

At Serene Heart Wellness, Healing Touch and Reiki offer a gentle space to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. Here, there is no expectation to “move on,” no pressure to explain your emotions, and no timeline for healing.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means discovering that peace, hope, and love can exist alongside loss.

Grief is carried by the whole person.

Loss affects far more than our emotions.

You may find yourself moving through the day on autopilot. Sleep may no longer feel restorative. Your thoughts may seem foggy, your body heavy, and even small decisions may feel overwhelming. Moments of joy may unexpectedly be followed by sadness, longing, or guilt.

These are natural responses to profound change.

When we experience loss, our bodies often remain in a prolonged state of stress. Over time, that can leave us feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually depleted.

Healing begins not by forcing yourself to “feel better,” but by creating space where your whole system can begin to settle and restore.

Why Healing Touch & Reiki?

Healing Touch and Reiki are gentle, evidence-informed biofield therapies that support relaxation, emotional well-being, and the body’s natural healing processes.

During times of grief and transition, these therapies provide an opportunity to slow down, soften the body’s stress response, and experience deep rest—something that is often difficult to find during seasons of loss.

Unlike approaches that require you to revisit painful memories or find the right words, Healing Touch and Reiki meet you exactly where you are. Each session creates a quiet space where your body can relax, your mind can become still, and healing can unfold naturally.

Many clients describe feeling calmer, lighter, more grounded, and more connected to themselves after a session.

What healing can feel like

Healing rarely happens all at once.

More often, it arrives quietly.

You may begin to notice that you:

  • Sleep more peacefully.

  • Breathe a little more deeply.

  • Feel calmer and more grounded.

  • Experience less physical heaviness.

  • Find moments of joy without guilt.

  • Feel more present with the people you love.

  • Carry your grief with greater peace and resilience.

  • Begin to trust yourself and your future again.

Healing doesn’t erase your love or your loss.

Instead, it gently expands your capacity to carry both while making room for hope, connection, and new possibilities.

My approach

I believe grief deserves to be witnessed with compassion, not hurried toward resolution.

Every person’s experience of loss is unique. Whether your grief is recent or years old, visible to others or quietly carried within, you deserve a space where your experience is honored without judgment or expectation.

My role is not to tell you how to grieve. It is to provide a calm, compassionate presence while creating conditions that support deep relaxation, restoration, and healing.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with advanced training in Healing Touch and Reiki, I bring a deep understanding of how grief, stress, and life transitions affect the whole person. While Serene Heart Wellness is not a medical or mental health practice, this foundation informs the thoughtful, individualized care I provide.

This may be right for you if you’re experiencing:

  • The death of a loved one

  • Anticipatory grief while caring for someone with a serious illness

  • Divorce or the end of an important relationship

  • Pregnancy or infant loss

  • Infertility or the loss of hoped-for parenthood

  • Retirement or career transitions

  • Changes in health or physical abilities

  • Becoming an empty nester

  • Caregiver stress and changing family roles

  • Any significant life transition that has left you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

What to expect

Sessions take place in a peaceful, welcoming environment designed to help you slow down and rest.

You’ll remain fully clothed while relaxing comfortably on a massage table as I use gentle touch or work just above the body, depending on your comfort and preferences.

There is nothing you need to accomplish during your session. No expectations to perform, process, or explain.

Simply an opportunity to be cared for.

Many clients leave feeling calmer, lighter, more grounded, and deeply restored. Others simply experience something they haven’t felt in a long time—a quiet sense of peace.

Every session is unique, and your experience unfolds at the pace that feels right for you.

A gentle invitation

Grief changes us.

But it doesn’t have to define every chapter that follows.

Healing isn’t about leaving someone—or something—you love behind. It’s about learning to carry your experiences with greater ease while gradually creating space for peace, resilience, and hope.

One breath.

One session.

One gentle step at a time.

When you’re ready, it would be an honor to walk alongside you.
